Consortium of Medical Engineering and
Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) Post Graduate Entrance
Test 2008 (COMEDK PGET-2008)
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in
their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective
testing procedure to determine merit of students wanting to seek
admissions to the Member Institutions, have formed "Consortium
of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK)”.
The Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of
Karnataka (COMEDK) has been assigned the task of organizing
a common entrance test for the academic year 2008-2009, for
candidates aspiring to pursue Post Graduate Courses in Medical
and Dental studies in the state of Karnataka, in colleges run by
Private Medical and Dental Colleges who are Member Institutions
of the consortium.

COMEDK Post Graduate Entrance Test-2008 (COMEDK
PGET-2008): COMEDK will conduct a separate
entrance test for Medical and a separate entrance
test for Dental Post Graduate courses called 'COMEDK
PGET-2008', for candidates seeking admission to Post
Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies. The
entrance test is being conducted for use by COMEDK
Member Institutions only. The COMEDK entrance test
is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for
the Post Graduate courses in Member Institutions.
The COMEDK PGET-2008 test scores are valid only for
admissions during the academic year 2008-2009.
The COMEDK PGET-2008 will be
conducted only at centers in Bangalore on Sunday the
27th January 2008 |

Total Sanctioned Intake in Member Institutions
These seats have been recognized or approved by MCI/DCI.
The following links indicates the total sanctioned
intake in each of the Member Institutions for the
courses specified as informed by the respective
colleges. The number of seats, to be filled up by
centralized counseling, is based on COMEDK
PGET-2008 merit will be notified at a later date
on the
website of
COMEDK.

Member Institutes: |
About Member Institutions: Twenty-Nine
Unaided, private Medical and Dental colleges which
are members of COMEDK, across the State of
Karnataka, offer various courses in Medical and
Dental studies at Post Graduate level. The courses
offered at the Post Graduate level include both
Degree and Diploma programs. Colleges which have
indicated their willingness to make admission to
their Post Graduate courses based on merit in the
Common Entrance Test organized by COMEDK (COMEDK
PGET-2008)

Minority
status applicable to candidates of Karnataka
origin only for admission to respective
minority status colleges. |

|
Claims made
by candidates as belonging to Karnataka
origin or Religious or Linguistic minority
status etc is not verified while sending TAT
for COMEDK-PGET 2008. However, if such a
candidate qualifies for attending
centralized counseling, it will be his/her
responsibility to furnish original documents
issued by competent authorities to the
satisfaction of COMEDK authorities, failing
which such a candidate will be considered
only under All India General Merit. |

course of PGET 2008. As such students are
cautioned to declare their status while

Test Scheme: |
|
There will be one test for PG Medical and
one test for PG Dental Courses. Each test
will have 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQ). |

allotted for the test would be 180 minutes.
The test will begin at 10:00am and end at
1:00pm. |

Candidates
are required to mark their answers in an OMR
(Optical Mark Reader) Answer Sheet.

Each correct
answer is awarded one mark. |

►
|
There will be
no Negative Marking. |
|
►
|
No Mark/s
will be awarded for multiple marking
(marking multiple responses) of any
question. |

|
Test Location: |
The COMEDK entrance test, COMEDK PGET-2008,
will be held in Bangalore City only. The test
will be held on the mentioned time and date in all
the test centres. The details of all the test
centres will be published online. The centre address
will be mentioned in the TAT, which would be
dispatched to the candidates prior to the
examination as per the calendar of events. |

permissible and you will not be allowed to

Eligibility: |
Degree/Diploma Programs: Applicants must meet
all requirements stipulated by MCI/DCI. Accordingly,
they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S./B.D.S.
from an institution recognised by MCI/DCI, and must
have completed or completing their internship by
30/04/08.
MCI/DCI Norms: Every student, selected for
admission to the Post Graduate medical/dental course
in any of the medical/dental institutions in the
country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S./B.D.S.
degree or equivalent qualification and should have
obtained permanent registration with the Medical
Council of India/Dental Council of India, or any of
the State Medical/Dental Council or should obtain
the same with in one month from the date of
admission, failing which the admission of the
candidate shall be cancelled.
Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the
Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India
may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the
registration, grant temporary registration for the
duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to
the college/institution to which the applicant is
admitted for the time being exclusively for Post
Graduate studies; Provided further, that temporary
registration to such foreign national shall be
subjected to the condition that such person is duly
registered as medical practitioner in his own
country from which the applicant has obtained
his/her basic medical/dental qualification and that
his/her degree is recognized by the corresponding
Council or concerned authority.
As per the Post Graduate
Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the
minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK
PGET-2008) for eligibility for admission to Post
Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Category
candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other
Backward Classes (OBC as declared by Government of
Karnataka from time to time).
As specified by the Dental Council of India, the
minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK
PGET-2008) for admission to Post Graduate Dental
courses shall be 50% for all the candidates
(Reference: DCI. Letter No. DE 14-2004/1135 dated 05
May 2004).
Rank-list/Rank-Card will be prepared only for those
students who become eligible for admission to Post
Graduate Courses as per the Medical Council of India
or Dental Council of India Regulations. |

Non-refundable fee for taking COMEDK-PGET-2008 and attending
centralised counseling, if eligible, is Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One
Thousand Five Hundred Only). DD for Rs.1500/- should be drawn in
favour of COMEDK-2008, payable at Bangalore and should be
enclosed with the application after recording application number
on the back of DD.
Note: Candidates are advised to visit COMEDK website
regularly to watch for “Red Alert” list of incomplete
applications to ensure corrections well in time and to enable
COMEDK to send the TAT in time.
Note that printed Brochures and Applications are not sold
this year. The completed Application Form has to reach
COMEDK office by post or courier on or before Saturday the 05th
January 2008 to the following address.

Test Admission Tickets and Related
Information
Candidates appearing for COMEDK-PGET-2008 will be issued a Test
Admission Ticket (TAT) for identification. Candidates are
required to bring the TAT and the original (Candidate Copy) Date
of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof duly attested by the Head
of the Institution where he/she has studied last, which is
similar to the copy submitted (COMEDK Copy) along with the
application form. This is mandatory.
The Test Admission Ticket gives the details of Test Center
assigned to the Candidate. The candidates are assigned a test
centre during the application processing, and no requests for
change in Test Centre would be considered, because the Entrance
Test is conducted only in Bangalore City.
The Test Admission Tickets would be dispatched to the candidates
by speed post at the address mentioned in their application form
as and when the applications are processed. However all Test
Admission Ticket will be dispatched by 16/01/2008 Candidates
not receiving the Test Admission Ticket on or before 20/01/2008,
must contact COMEDK helpdesk or send email to have the details
of the Test Admission Ticket.
Change of address, if any, during the process of COMEDK
PGET-2008 must be intimated through post/courier/Email/Fax to
COMEDK office; the responsibility for the same rests solely with
the applicants. In the event of any candidate not receiving the
Test Admission Ticket or misplacing the same, the status can be
requested by calling the COMEDK Help Desk. The help desk
numbers are available in the brochure. Candidates can also view
their test centre details in the COMEDK website through
Applicant Login.
