SLET - State Level Eligibility Test
It is notified for information of all concerned that the SLET
Commission, Assam will hold the SET (State Eligibility Test)
Examination (formerly termed as SLET) for appointment of Lecturer in
Colleges and Universities on 28.09.2008 in the centers located at
the Universities of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram,
Tripura and Sikkim. For this the following schedule has been fixed.
It is further information that the Paper III will be evaluated only
for those candidates who secured the minimum qualifying marks in
Paper I and Paper II as the table given below.
Minimum Qualifying Marks :
General/ OBC: Paper I: 40, Paper II: 40; Paper I + Paper II:
100 (50%)
PH/ VH: Paper I: 35, Paper II: 35, Paper I + Paper II: 90
(45%)
SC/ST: Paper I: 35, Paper II: 35, Paper I + Paper II: 80
(40%)
It is also for information that:

Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the
Master-Degree examination may also apply as per provision of
Eligibility (Rule 4 of Information Brochure).

Language Papers are to be written in concerned language only.
►
Successful candidates will be eligible for appointment in the above
States (and Meghalaya) only.
►
The subject Life Science includes Botany and Zoology only. |

Eligibility |
Any Indian national who obtained Master Degree with atleast 55%
marks is eligible to sit in the SLET. However in the case of SC
/ ST Candidate the minimum requirement of mark is 50% on the
subject he opts to appear. Those candidates who have even
secured 54.99% marks (49.99% marks in case of SC/ST candidates)
in Master Degree examination are not eligible for this Test.
There is no provision of rounding up of marks to make it 55%
(50% for SC/ST). A Candidate may appear as many times he/she
likes and there is no age limit. Candidates who have appeared or
will be appearing the final of their Master Degree Examination
of which result is still awaited or candidates whose examination
has been delayed may be also apply and appear at this Test.
However such candidates will be considered eligible for
lectureship and permitted to join the position after they have
passed the Master Degree examination or equivalent with the
required P.C of marks and have been declared qualified in this
test. Candidates are to appear in the subject of the post
graduation only. In case, the subject of a candidate is not
included in this Test, the candidate may appear in the subject
related to the one he/she had at postgraduate. Candidates who
have qualified in the Test are eligible to apply for the post of
lecturer within the area of the Member States of SLET. The
validity period of certificate is forever. |

How To Apply |
The cost of application form is Rs.200/- per form and shall have
to be paid in cash at the time of collection. Along with the
form of application, a syllabus of the subject for examination,
revised syllabus for Paper I (Arts), an Information Booklet
furnishing all necessary information viz. fees to be paid, mode
of payment, eligibility criteria etc. will also be issue.
There is also a provision for selling Model Question Paper for
the examination at Rs.30/- per set. (This has been prepared
specially to give an idea to the candidates about the nature of
the question, as the nature of the papers is new to them).
Intending candidates may collect it at the time of collection of
form by paying an amount of Rs.30/- along with the cost of
application form.
Application forms and other documents as mentioned above will be
available with the Universities (respective centers) as
mentioned above. Candidates may collect and deposit I in the
centre where they intend to appear. For the candidates appearing
at the Guwahati centre the forms will be issued and received in
the office of the SLET Commission, Assam located at the 2nd
Floor of BKB Auditorium, Gauhati University. There is a
provision for downloading the Application Form from our website
www.sletne.org,
but the cost of the Application Form of Rs.200/- each shall have
to be paid along with the fee for examination.
