Biotechnology |
|
|
Biotechnology is one of the most exciting
fields today. Essentially, it is the use of living organisms,
in industrial processes. Biotechnology has been used for years
in baking, brewing and cheese making, but the industry has
been revolutionized in recent years by advances in genetics
and genetic engineering. It is fast emerging to virtually
reshape every other industry it intersects from health care to
agriculture, to Pharmaceutical and manufacturing processes
from drug discovery to Nano-technology. The products and
processes of modern biotechnology hold great potential for
significantly improving human health and agricultural
productivity, supplying more nutritious food, producing
industrial products and much cheaper prices and improving the
quality of environment more effectively on sustainable
bases. The human resource produced after completion of this
course will have knowledge and skills needed to assume roles
in various areas of biotechnology as Scientists in both
academic and industry, as academic educators, as entrepreneurs
and as members and leaders of government, public and private
organizations dealing with social, ethical and legal issues of
Biotechnology.

Technology |

The Programme on Information Systems gives
a good exposure to the students on computer software and
software engineering techniques, both at the conceptual and
application levels. The objective of this course is to provide
students with the necessary professional skills, conceptual
frameworks, methods, technologies and hands-on experience for
research and development in IT. Students will also acquire
specialized knowledge of specific IT areas and develop
research and development skills, spending a major portion of
the programme investigating, in depth, a research
area.

Bioinformatics |

Biotechnology research generates massive
volumes of information effective exploitation of this vast
amount of information to achieve goals such as developing
cures for diseases discovering causes of diseases and
identification of new molecular targets for drug discovery
inevitably depends upon advances in information technology ad
applied to biological systems. Bioinformatics, a
multidisciplinary subject integrates developments in
information and computer technology for the management of
biological information. It is the recording, annotation,
storage, analysis, search / retrieval of nucleic acid
sequence, protein sequence and structure information. Some
areas in which Bioinformatics has become an integral part of
R&D are functional genomic, comparative genomic,
structural genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and
metabolic pathway engg. molecular diagnostic kits,
pharmacogenomics and biodiversity.

Technology |

Microbial Technology mainly uses micro-organisms and their
enzymes to make useful products like fine and bulk chemicals,
pharmaceutical ingredients, biofuels, bio-plastics, food
ingredients etc. it relies on the use of renewable resources
as raw material. The course is designed to meet industry’s
growing demand for personnel with expertise in applied
microbiology and biotechnology. In-depth studies include
microbial physiology and fermentation technology; topics in
biotechnology; industrial bioprocesses.

Prospects : Career paths vary from technical to

– M Com Global Banking & Finance |

general business knowledge in the areas of Accounting,
Finance, Management, Management Information Systems,
E-Business and Marketing Management. Emphasis will be placed
